CareUno cuts high-cost surgical claims by 40 to 60% through pre-priced access to JCI-accredited hospitals in India, helping self-funded employers reduce risk and giving brokers a new lever on surgical spend.
Transcript:
What is CareUno?
Surgery is one of the biggest costs in most employer health plans, and most employers have zero control over where it happens or what it costs. Pharmacy has PBMs. Primary care has direct primary care. Surgery is still a black box. CareUno changes that. We give employees access to JCI-accredited hospitals in India for high-cost elective procedures. Orthopedic, cardiac, spine and bariatric. JCI is the same quality standard as the top US hospitals. Fixed price before they travel. Full care coordination from surgery through 90-day follow up. Zero out-of-pocket for the employee and 40 to 65% savings for the employer.
How is CareUno different?
This is not medical tourism. Medical tourism is a suggestion. CareUno is a benefit. It plugs directly into a self-funded health plan through a standard plan document amendment, the same mechanisms brokers already use for direct primary care or reference-based pricing. ERISA-compliant. The primary network stays completely intact. Participation is always voluntary. Every case is prepriced and preauthorized before the employee travels. The TPA processes a single bundle payment. No surprise bills, no balance billing. Medical records come back in US standard format for clean claim closure, and we only make money when the employers save money. No PEPM, no upfront cost, full alignment.
Who is a good fit for CareUno?
Self-funded employers with at least 200 covered lives. We're seeing high-cost elective surgical claims and have no strategy for managing them. The employers who fit best have already watched a single orthopedic or cardiac case blow up the plan and felt completely stuck. One episode can exceed $100,000. That is 5 to 10% of a small plan's entire annual budget. On the broker's side, the best fit is an advisor already doing serious cost containment work who wants a tool that actually addresses surgical spend. The one category that has no managed channel yet.
