Armadillo - 3x3x3 Challenge with Matan Slagter
Armadillo is a monthly protection plan for when appliances and systems break down in employees’ homes. Armadillo plans cover repairs or replacements of HVAC systems, Electrical Systems, Plumbing Systems and Major Appliances. Think of it like health insurance for your employees’ homes. The Armadillo program is voluntary, and employers can choose to subsidize 0%-100% of the plan. The program is currently available in 45 states around the U.S.

What is Armadillo?
Armadillo is a technology company, a technology startup. We developed a home services digital platform that makes it super easy for homeowners to get service for things that break down in their homes. We cover things like HVAC systems and electric systems, appliances like refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, and even plumbing issues like septic tanks or backed up pipes. We've built an affordable, a subscription-based plan for employees that doesn't only make it super easy to request service, but it also covers the costs of that service. Very similar to health insurance, but for the home.
How is Armadillo different?
Armadillo is a brainchild that initially responded to the societal shift to work from home. A lot of employees work from home and they also deal with the stuff that breaks down in their home. So we've built this innovative program. To our knowledge, Armadillo is the only employee benefit program that provides this sort of home service plan. It is a very simple product program. It's voluntary. The employer can choose to subsidize some of it, none of it, all of it. Employees can sign up during open enrollment or outside of open enrollment. And really it helps employees not only budget for breakdowns in their homes, but also have those breakdowns resolved quickly so they can get back to work.
Who is a good fit for Armadillo?
We work with all sized employers, small employers, large employers. We find that employers who have a large population of employees who are homeowners will have higher enrollment rates or employers who have a large portion of them, their employees working from home, find this benefit to be a beneficial employee benefit. And we have this really cool program here, you'll see at the right side, Gift an Armadillo Program, which essentially allows the employer to show their appreciation of their employees. When an employee buys a new home, which is the biggest financial transaction they would typically go through, the employer can gift them an Armadillo plan for a full year in their new home. So yeah, we can work with all sized employees, employers and develop a custom programs that are pretty simple to implement.
